Have you recently considered investing in renewable energy? Now, might be the best time to go ahead and make that investment. Prop 127, Clean Energy for a Healthy Arizona, proposes a plan that would require 50% of utilities to come from renewable energy (such as solar and wind) by the year 2030. APS opposes this as they have already fought to eliminate net metering in recent past.
Arizona is on track for producing 15% of its power through renewable energy by the year 2025 as solar prices continue to drop and Arizona continues to be one of the sunniest states in the U.S. Four cities in Arizona are listed in the top ten of sunniest cities: Yuma, Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff.
Modelling of a renewable energy future conducted by the research firm ICF for NRDC finds that 50 percent of the state’s electricity needs can be reliably met by renewable energy by 2030. A 50 percent renewable portfolio standard would lead to the development of 5,320 Megawatts of solar capacity by 2030. (NRDC)
APS has increased the amount of choices customers have when it comes to what service they receive. These choices are not necessarily beneficial to current and future customers. A full layout is listed here in the Residential Plan Comparison.
Customers have recently requested a rehearing on the rate case as prices appear to have increased more than APS initially promised. The anticipated rate increase was about $6 a month, compared to the actual increase of around $17 a month. APS maintains that the rate increase was reasonable and in line with the earnings expected.
