About Us
Jim Corning, the founder of Prometheus Systems, graduated from MIT with a degree in Mechanical
Engineering in 1978. After moving to Flagstaff in 2001, Jim acted upon his interest in Renewable
Energy by installing a 2.5 kW solar-electric system at his own home. Realizing how simple and
reliable the systems were, he felt that more people should have the opportunity to save money
by installing their own system. Jim began offering local courses in Do-It-Yourself solar and
had an overwhelming response from the community. He decided to start a company that would help
similar Do-It-Yourselfer's get started with photovoltaics(PV).
At the beginning of 2008, Jim added Ryan Holtz and Christina Barker-Roybal to his permanent staff.
Ryan is a Mechanical Engineer who has been working with photovoltaics in northern Arizona for
over two years. He manages design and sales for Prometheus. Christina Barker-Roybal, graduate
of The University of Texas at Arlington (BBA) supports Prometheus' accounting and marketing.
Christina has assisted Jim with business planning and execution since 1997.
Realizing that education is a critical part in the DIY process, Prometheus continues to offer
regular PV Courses. The course focuses on helping you design and install your own system as well
as helping you to become a knowledgeable consumer. See the Live Workshops
page to learn more about our PV Courses.
In addition to DIY systems, we also offer full-service installation and equipment sales. Please
feel free to contact us for further information.
